In the Office: Beauty Do's and Don’ts

Look polished at work without overdoing it...

natural makeupMessy hair and raccoon eyes don’t belong in the office. Pull out your pencils and pens ladies, because it’s time to take a memo. We’ve rounded up our top dos and don’ts for on the job beauty.

DON’T: Wear Heavy Eye Makeup

There’s a time and place for smoky eyes, false lashes, and red lips but, unfortunately, the office just isn’t one of them. Reserve the glam girl look for evenings on the town, and tone it down a notch or two for work.

DO: Style Your Hair

Nothing screams “unprofessional” like a messy mane. If you’re running late, spritz some dry shampoo on your roots to absorb excess oil and refresh yesterday’s blowout. Or pull your hair back into a sleek chignon for a work appropriate, chic updo.

DON’T: Sport Unkempt Nails

A tiny chip here or there is nothing to stress about, but if half your nail polish is peeling off, it’s time to do something about it. Make an appointment at the salon to freshen up, or DIY at home. If you’re in a hurry, buffed, naked nails are a great finished look with no dry time. Whatever you do, don’t start experimenting with crazy nail art at the office (unless, of course, your job is in the beauty or fashion industries).

DO: Opt for a Neutral Lip

A neutral lip is always perfect for work, no matter where you’re employed. Look for shades of nude, soft beiges and peachy-pinks that work with your skin tone. Pair with an light, earthy eye (think soft browns and pale golds) and add a hint of cream blush.

Now you can make a good beauty impression at work in more ways than one -- put your beauty skills to the test!
